The first part of this comprehensive training introduces participants to the core features of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including report creation, dashboard design, and app functionalities. Participants will learn to enhance their reports with interactive visualizations, filtering, and advanced customization techniques. The training also covers DAX, Power BI's powerful formula language, enabling the creation of calculated tables, columns, and explicit measures for deeper insights. The second part of the training begins with an introduction to Power Query and creating connections to extract data. Participants learn to perform basic transformations and optimize queries to enhance performance. As the course progresses, advanced techniques such as table merging and complex transformations are introduced. Participants also learn to build and enrich a data model by creating relationships, hierarchies, calculated columns, and measures. By the end of the training, they will have the skills necessary to design robust, high-performing, and scalable data models in Power BI

  • Introduction to Power BI : desktop builder & power query, online platform (services) & workspace, dashboard & app. Overview of end users key features, interfaces, navigation & selection ; components of reports, dashboards and app. Core of business intelligence : understand structured & semi-structured data, qualitative & quantitative variables, star schema, measures & dimensions, data architect tasks and report designer tasks.
  • Report creation : DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) : master the creation of calculated tables, calculated columns and explicit measures using DAX, applying advanced functions for deeper data analysis. Learn to design and configure all charts, visual objects, and enhance interaction (visual tooltip, drill-trough, slicers & buttons, bookmarks, parameters, what if).
  • Power Query : introduction, extracting data from various sources, storage mode, data gateway, applying basic transformations (formatting, filtering, cleaning), and managing query parameters. Data Modeling : build efficient relational models that include hierarchies and calculated columns. Optimize queries for enhanced performance.
  • Understanding Relationships : define relationship cardinalities between tables and the direction of filtering. Advanced Queries : perform complex transformations, combine data from multiple sources, and apply table merging techniques.
